Since 2023, CCDS has been associated with TWC for implementing the Millet Value Chain and Processing Programme in Lapung Block, Ranchi District, Jharkhand. The programme has been designed primarily for Scheduled Tribe (ST) male and female beneficiaries, with the objective of developing sustainable livelihood and self-employment opportunities through millet-based activities.

The programme is implemented through a six-month structured training programme, covering the complete millet value chain from cultivation and production to processing, value addition, product development, and marketing. As part of the initiative, beneficiaries were supported in establishing millet cultivation, followed by practical training on processing and converting millet into value-added food products.

A key component of the programme is the development of millet-based sweets, namkeen, and other food products, with women from Lapung Block actively participating in the preparation and value addition process. This approach enables beneficiaries to transform locally produced millet into marketable products, thereby increasing the economic value of their agricultural produce.

After product development, market linkage support is provided to the beneficiaries, helping them promote and sell their millet-based products in suitable markets. The programme therefore creates an integrated livelihood model covering cultivation → processing → value addition → product development → market linkage.

Through this initiative, CCDS aims to empower ST communities, particularly rural women, by developing their entrepreneurial and food-processing skills and creating opportunities for self-employment, income generation, and sustainable livelihoods.
