Since 2017, CCDS has been implementing agriculture and horticulture development programmes in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, Government of Jharkhand. The programme focuses on strengthening rural livelihoods by promoting suitable agricultural and horticultural activities among rural communities.
Under the programme, rural beneficiaries are identified and selected from the project blocks based on their landholding, local conditions, agricultural practices, and livelihood requirements. Suitable agricultural crops, horticultural plants, fruit plants, and other plantation materials are then provided and established according to the agro-climatic conditions and available gardening/land resources of the beneficiaries.
The programme encourages beneficiaries to make productive use of their available land and develop sustainable agriculture and horticulture-based livelihood opportunities. By selecting crops and plants according to local conditions and market potential, the initiative aims to improve productivity, diversify household income, and create long-term income-generating opportunities.
Through this programme, CCDS supports rural communities in adopting improved agricultural and horticultural practices, ultimately contributing to enhanced household income, livelihood security, and sustainable rural development.
