Since 2000, CCDS has been implementing jute skill development and livelihood promotion programmes in collaboration with the National Jute Board (NJB), Government of India. The programme aims to promote jute-based livelihoods by providing rural communities and artisans with practical skills in jute bag making, diversified jute products, and handicrafts.

The training programme is structured into three modules: Basic Training – 21 days, Advanced Training – 14 days, and Design Development Training – 14 days. The training focuses on developing technical skills, improving product quality, introducing new designs, and enabling participants to produce market-oriented jute products.

After successful completion of the training, CCDS facilitates market linkage and handholding support, helping trained beneficiaries connect with markets and develop sustainable income-generating opportunities through jute-based enterprises.

The programme is implemented across all 24 districts of Jharkhand, covering blocks in different parts of the state and providing rural artisans with opportunities to develop skills and strengthen their livelihoods.

As part of the programme, a one-day Jute Choupal is also organized once every year, bringing together approximately 200 rural participants. The Choupal focuses on creating awareness about opportunities in the jute sector, diversified jute products, skill development, entrepreneurship, and potential avenues for income generation through jute-based activities.

Through continuous skill development, design innovation, market linkage, and awareness activities, CCDS works towards creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthening the rural jute artisan ecosystem in Jharkhand.
